I read the letter by Raul Garza, CEO of a youth service center in Joliet (“Shutter Joliet Youth Center,” Nov. 23). He agrees with Gov. Quinn to close Illinois Youth Centers in Joliet and Murphysboro.
He gives numbers and statistics as to why. However, I think the real reason is he would love to have all that state money come his way to help the “kids.” Trying to rehabilitate a murderer is the key, and there are plenty in there.
So, I read between the lines. All these facilities are trying to help these youth after incarceration. Why not help them before? That’s my two cents as to why.

Thanks to Iron Horse
I would like to take this time to thank all the people who put the Thanksgiving dinner together at the Iron Horse Restaurant.
My husband and I went to the 2 p.m. dinner. We enjoyed it. I must say the attention we received and the food was excellent.
I am disabled and my husband has been unemployed for a few years, so this was a nice way to start our holidays.
Thank you and God bless.

It’s the ‘old white guys’
I’m not too bright, so it took me a while to figure out what’s wrong with our country.
It’s old white guys, you know. The men who believe in God, love this country and serve in the military. They vote, go to work, pay taxes and don’t mooch off the government. They believe in a real marriage and raising a family and don’t agree with the abortion issue. They learn and speak English, obey the law and help their neighbors.
Yeah, that’s what’s wrong with America today and the vast presidential election proved it. (As I sing, “Bye-Bye Miss American Pie.”)
