Feb. 10 marked the first Pre-Valentine’s Day Gala sponsored by The Women’s Ministry of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, Lockport, celebrated at DiNolfo’s in Homer Glen. It was a huge success.

The event had more than 100 guests and featured food, DJ Mike Dennie, live entertainment, games, giveaways, photographs by Torry L. McGee and dancing. Kids and teens 17 and younger celebrated at the church campus with pizza, games, photographs and cookie decorating.

The Master and Mistress of Ceremony for the evening were Derrick and Denise Jackson.

Greetings were given by First Lady Robbie House, director of the Women’s Ministry.

“As being director of Women’s Ministry, 2013, I wanted to start the new year off with a gala event, so I thought about having a Pre-Valentine Day Celebration to bring together the whole church body to fellowship and have fun. I would also like to personally thank Lisa Johnson-McFarland, event planner, for arranging this beautiful event and The Women’s Ministry for their support. Our youth had a wonderful celebration at our church campus too,” said House.

Johnson-McFarland, a professional businesswoman, had a team to assist her in arranging the event. She thanked her team for helping. She is also a soloist, known as a psalmist and serves as a lead singer in the choir at Shiloh and sometimes leads praise and worship.

“My desire is to please God with my voice and other gifts” she said.

The program order was Scripture and prayer by Minister Steve and Tequilla Rollins; Expressions of Love by Tashika Williams; a song of Luther Vandross by Torry L. McGee; songs of Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell sung by Byron and Malisa Dorris and James and Judy Johnson; songs by the Dream Supremes by Pat Young, Michelle Conway and Candi Dennie and special guest Pastor Richard D. House, singing and presenting flowers to his wife Robbie House; Scrabble board by Billy and Felicia Carson (Soul Train Theme song playing in the background); soul train line; let the party begin.

This was an evening full with fun and laughter.

Included guests of the evening were Ald. Ed Smith, retired 28th Ward, Chicago, and Ron Alberico, Lockport Township supervisor.

Closing remarks were given by Richard D. House and First Lady Robbie House.
