Ultimate "Dark Shadows" fan Bob Issel of Carpentersville attends "Dark Shadows" events around the country and has met several of the stars of the Gothic soap opera. He first met Jonathan Frid in 1991, and in 1998, Issel posed for this photo with the Canadian-born actor after Frid performed his one-man show at Hofstra University in Long Island, New York.
Vampire Barnabas Collins was played by Jonathan Frid on the original TV soap opera version of "Dark Shadows." In 1992, Frid appeared at the Paramount Arts Centre in Aurora where he read from the works of Edgar Allan Poe. Frid passed away recently at the age of 87. Frid has a cameo in the upcoming "Dark Shadows" movie, which stars Johnny Depp in Frid's old role.
