Four people were killed and two others were critically injured early Saturday when a vehicle crashed into a pole in the Southwest Side Little Village neighborhood, Fire Department officials said.
The single-vehicle crash happened at 12:33 a.m. in the 3100 block of South Kedzie, police spokesman Ron Gaines said.
Cecilia Gentil, 25, Ramon Gentil, 23, and Norma Montesinos, 29, were all dead at the scene, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office. They all lived at the same home in the 2800 block of South Avers.
Three other people were critically wounded, including a male and a female taken to Mount Sinai Hospital and a male taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County.
One of the women wounded — identified as Gabriella Sanchez, 19, of the 3000 block of South Kolin — was later pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital at 1:27 a.m., according to the medical examiner’s office.
Autopsies conducted Saturday determined all four died from multiple injuries suffered when the sports utility vehicle they were riding in struck a fixed object, according to the medical examiner’s office. The deaths were ruled an accident.
The cause of the crash remained under investigation.
