Dante White ordered his daughter’s boyfriend out of his West Side home, then he allegedly pulled out a pistol to force the 26-year-old man to leave.
But White’s 25-year-old daughter stepped in front of her boyfriend to shield him just as White allegedly pulled the trigger, Cook County prosecutors said Sunday.
His daughter was wounded in the left arm by the single shot allegedly fired from the .25-caliber pistol by her father, who Chicago police said is a documented gang member and convicted felon.
Another daughter and five of White’s grandchildren also were in the home when the shooting occurred around 2 p.m. Saturday, according to prosecutors.
White, 49, allegedly ran from the house in the 4900 block of West Quincy nd dumped the pistol in a garbage can.
Police arrested White nearby — and recovered the weapon, which had two live rounds in it, prosecutors said during his bond hearing.
White was charged with felony unlawful use of a weapon and possessing a handgun with a defaced serial number.
His bail was set at $200,000.
