The senior pitcher enjoys hanging with friends and going to her family’s cottage in Wisconsin in the summer.

How did it feel to throw a no-hitter against Lincoln-Way West (a 10-0 victory April 9)?

We were all up for the game because our coach (Elizabeth Pawlicki) used to coach there. It felt really nice.

How long have you been playing softball?

I actually started playing baseball when I was younger. I lived in Homer Glen and they only offered baseball, so I played with the boys. But we moved to Frankfort and I went to Hickory Creek Middle School and played softball then.

You have a unique spelling of your first name. What’s the story behind that?

My mom wanted my name to be different. She wanted to spell it that way so people wouldn’t call me Kay.

If you could change places with one of your teammates for a day, who would it be and why?

(Shortstop) Jorgi Calombaris. Because she’s always upbeat, just loves the game and has so much fun.

If you could take one celebrity to prom, who would it be?

Channing Tatum, because he’s a good dancer.

Do you have any pregame rituals or superstitions?

Yes, I always have to have the bow in my hair perfectly. I get a new bow each season and I have three different ones, depending on the color uniform we wear.

What music do you listen to?

I always listen to Taylor Swift on the bus rides. She’s one of my favorites and gets me ready for the games. But other than her, I really don’t like country music. I like Katie Perry, too.

Have you committed to a college yet?

Yes, I’m going to Western Illinois. I really like the coaches there and they have a great program between school and softball. I’m going to room with Tierney Bottino from Lockport.

As told to Randy Whalen
