No. 1 Plainfield North 7, Plainfield East 1: Joe Cresta and Caleb Kissel knocked in runs for visiting Plainfield North (20-1, 10-1) in the Southwest Prairie. Brendan Miller (6-0) allowed six hits and struck out 11 over six innings for the Tigers.
No. 3 Providence 6, St. Rita 2: Kenny King contributed a double, home run and five RBI to propel visiting Providence (16-6, 7-2) in the Catholic League Blue.
Sandburg 4, No. 4 Lockport 3: Ron Sessler drilled a two-run double for visiting Lockport (12-9, 3-3) in the SouthWest Suburban Blue.
No. 7 Lincoln-Way East 4, Joliet Central 1: Mark Chemello (5-1) allowed three hits and struck out five in pitching a complete game for visiting Lincoln-Way East (12-7, 4-2) in the SouthWest Suburban Blue. Dylan Pinto had a double and an RBI to pace the offense. Brandyn Smith had the RBI for Joliet Central (7-16, 1-6).
Homewood-Flossmoor 5, Joliet West 4: Jeff Gersch had a three-run triple to spark host Joliet West (12-11, 4-3) in the SouthWest Suburban Blue.
Stagg 5, Lincoln-Way West 0: Matt Sutor was the losing pitcher for host Lincoln-Way West (14-9, 2-4) in the SouthWest Suburban Red.
Lincoln-Way Central 3, Bolingbrook 2: Jack Krull’s suicide squeeze with one out in the bottom of the seventh scored Lucas Jones with the winning run for Lincoln-Way Central (13-8, 3-3) in the SouthWest Suburban Red. Jones’ two-run double earlier in the frame tied the score.
Plainfield Central 11, Oswego East 4: Joe Sparacio (3-for-3) recorded two doubles, two runs and three RBI for visiting Plainfield Central (14-10-1, 5-6) in the Southwest Prairie.
Softball
No. 3 Lockport 2, Lincoln-Way Central 1: Tierney Bottino’s RBI single in the top of the sixth was the difference for visiting Lockport (16-5, 6-0) in the SouthWest Suburban Blue. Carly Dundee added a home run for the Porters to support Taylor Weissenhofer (10-3), who tossed a five-hitter and struck out 13. Michelle Kriegshauser homered for Lincoln-Way Central (10-7, 3-3).
No. 4 Lincoln-Way East 4, Sandburg 1: Sam Stewart’s two-run homer guided host Lincoln-Way East (16-3, 5-1) in the SouthWest Suburban Blue.
No. 5 Plainfield Central 10, Metea Valley 4: Kaleigh Nagle (10-3) pitched a complete game for visiting Plainfield Central (16-5), which collected 12 hits on the day.
Bishop McNamara 1, No. 7 Providence 0: Allie Strick (7-3) tossed a five-hitter and fanned 10 for host Providence (12-9, 4-4) in the East Suburban Catholic. Morgan Greenwood had the Celtics’ only hit.
No. 9 Lincoln-Way West 26, Thornton 3: Myranda Eckberg collected four hits to key host Lincoln-Way West (14-7, 5-1) in the five-inning SouthWest Suburban Red game.
Marian Catholic 13, Joliet Catholic 3: Claire O’Connor had a homer and three RBI for visiting Joliet Catholic (12-10, 3-3) in the five-inning East Suburban Catholic game.
Peotone 7, Kankakee 0: Jordan Nichols hit a sacrifice fly and a solo homer to spark host Peotone (18-4). Emily Carstens (7-1) tossed a three-hitter and struck out 12 for the Blue Devils.
Coal City 12, Plainfield North 9: Maddie Bunton and Carly Pavlis were among those with RBI for visiting Coal City. Erica Kramer contributed a home run and four RBI for Plainfield North (8-13).
Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley 4, Dwight 3: Tori Grzincic had two homers and three RBI to lead visiting Dwight.
Boys Tennis
Marian Catholic 4, Joliet Catholic 1: Zach Siegfried and Nate Naal won at No. 2 doubles for host Joliet Catholic (12-5, 3-3) in the East Suburban Catholic dual.
Badminton
SouthWest Suburban Blue Doubles Tournament: Lockport had champions in four of five divisions at Joliet Central, including No. 1 doubles, where Becca Krzyszkowski and Amy Benes secured the crown. Allison Mintari and Jorie Gorski won the championship at No. 2 doubles for the Porters.
Boys Water Polo
Lockport 13, Hinsdale South 6: Dave Hir scored six goals to lead visiting Lockport.
College Baseball
St. Francis 7-1, Trinity International 5-2: Mike Witas hit a pair of RBI singles to aid visiting St. Francis (32-14, 22-6) in Game 1 of the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader. J.T. Blaine delivered a run-scoring grounder for the Saints in the nightcap.
