High School Sports Roundup for May 1, 2012

Girls Soccer

Lincoln-Way West 7, Crete-Monee 0: Cori Brennan netted four goals to pace host Lincoln-Way West. Emily Wyskiel added two goals for the Warriors and Kara Winans had two assists.

Wilmington 4, Grant Park 0: Renee Enz scored twice for host Wilmington (5-4-2). Haley Hooper made 16 saves in recording the shutout.

Plainfield Central 7, Addison Trail 0: Paige Fuller and Britney Lenza (assist) recorded two goals apiece for host Plainfield Central (11-5-1). Brigid Hanley and Lauren Kulaga each added a goal and two assists for the Wildcats.

Softball

Joliet West 8, Pontiac 1: Tresa Fahrner and Brianna Thompson each had two RBI for host Joliet West (13-13). Joy Treasure allowed three hits in pitching a complete game for the Tigers.

Plainfield North 10, Yorkville 8: Kelly Kennedy and Erica Kramer had three RBI apiece for visiting Plainfield North (9-14). Taylor Willhalm (4-for-5) added a home run and two RBI for the Tigers.

Baseball

Neuqua Valley 15, No. 1 Plainfield North 2: Joe Cresta had an RBI double for host Plainfield North (21-2) in the six-inning game.

Boys Volleyball

Plainfield Central 25-25, Fenton 11-9: Cody Swanson’s 12 assists and four aces propelled host Plainfield Central (12-7). Will Shuneman tacked on nine kills for the Wildcats.

Stagg 27-25, Joliet West 25-21: Brian Edwards recorded eight kills for host Joliet West (6-20-1, 0-6) in the SouthWest Suburban crossover. Bryan Lyman (7 kills, 8 digs) and Zach Reece (12 digs) also starred for the Tigers.

Lincoln-Way Central 25-25, Bolingbrook 12-18: Clay Hermann (7 blocks) and Austin Overby totaled eight kills apiece for visiting Lincoln-Way Central (18-7, 5-1). Matt Clark tacked on 24 assists for the Knights in the SouthWest Suburban crossover.

Lincoln-Way East 25-25, Homewood-Flossmoor 16-20: Jason Garnett posted six kills to aid visiting Lincoln-Way East (22-3, 6-0) in the SouthWest Suburban crossover.

Plainfield South 25-27, Elgin 19-25: Eric Hoar finished with six kills to lead host Plainfield South (13-5-1).

Sandburg 23-25-25, Lincoln-Way West 25-16-19: Grayson Dewey had 19 assists for visiting Lincoln-Way West (20-3, 5-1) in the SouthWest Suburban crossover. Joel McGuire added nine kills and seven digs for Warriors.

Boys Water Polo

Lockport 9, Sandburg 7: Dave Hir’s four goals sparked host Lockport in the SouthWest Suburban Blue.

Girls Water Polo

Lincoln-Way Central 16, Lincoln-Way East 7: Danielle Jackovich and Brittany Knowlton each scored six goals for host Lincoln-Way Central in the SouthWest Suburban Blue.
