Boris Jurkovic, Ron Vandermeir, Nathan Kelly and Zach Mitchell earned feature wins as the 42nd season of stock car racing at Grundy Country Speedway kicked off Friday.
Jurkovic took over the lead in the late-model feature when Pat Kelly and Brett Sontag made contact going into Turn 3 on lap 15, resulting in both cars spinning out and going to the back of the field for the restart. Jurkovic led the rest of the way despite numerous attempts by fast qualifier Eddie Hoffman to run him down in the last five laps.
Hoffman finished second, followed by D.J. Weltmeyer, Chris Cooling and Sontag. Kelly won the trophy dash and Dylan Harmon and Ricky Baker won heat races.
Vandermier led all the way in the Mid-American feature and was followed across the finish line by John McMahon, Kevin Gentile, Ron Willems and Red Diangikes. Chuck Yuris set the fast time. Cody Clubb and Ray Brackett won heats.
Randy Weese had a significant lead through most of the street stock feature. As laps wounds down, Weese encountered heavy traffic and Nathan Kelly gained ground. With the white flag waving, Kelly dove underneath Weese and got the win. Weese finished second, followed by Logan Love, John Senerchia and Paul Polarek. Kelly set the fast time and Weese and Polarek won heats.
Mitchell won the pure stock feature ahead of Rich Dearborn, Chet Hartley, Kyle Carlson and Dan Schmeliesing.
