No. 5 Lemont 42, Riverside-Brookfield 0: Chris Giatris had 17 carries for 119 yards and two touchdowns to spark host Lemont (2-0). Indians quarterback Zach Brosseau added scoring passes to Drew Slee (7 yards) and Joe Hehir (23).
No. 8 Coal City 41, Dwight 0: Ryland Tondini contributed two touchdown runs to lead visiting Coal City (2-0) in the Interstate Eight crossover. Nate Natyshok added a 39-yard interception return for a score. Dwight dropped to 0-2.
No. 9 Plainfield Central 14, St. Charles North 7: Touchdown runs by Jordan Ellingwood (1 yard) and Gino Giarratano (2) propelled host Plainfield Central (2-0).
No. 10 Wilmington 27, Sandwich 0: Running back Chris Tworek (9 carries, 94 yards) contributed first-half touchdown runs of 38 and 6 yards for visiting Wilmington (1-1) in the Interstate Eight crossover.
Peotone 27, Seneca 20: Danny Beresky scored two touchdowns — including one on an interception return — to spark host Peotone (2-0). Seneca fell to 1-1.
Manteno 41, Reed-Custer 14: Mark Harper (15-of-31, 180 yards) threw two touchdown passes to Dalton Kinzler to lead host Reed-Custer (0-2) in the Interstate Eight crossover. Kinzler finished with 130 yards on nine receptions.
Boys Golf
Plainfield East 171, Lincoln-Way West 173: Plainfield East’s David Pikul and Lincoln-Way West’s Andrew O’Keefe each shot 40 in sharing medalist honors at The Sanctuary. Kevin Pikul and Jake Kaufman added 43s for Plainfield East.
Minooka 162, Plainfield South 168: Minooka’s Jason Chobar and Plainfield South’s Isaiah Pina tied for medalist honors with 39s at Wedgewood. Kent Hudson, of Minooka, was one shot off the pace in the Southwest Prairie Meet.
Men’s Cross Country
Illini Challenge: Lewis’ Sean Smith was third in the 6-kilometer contest with a time of 18 minutes, 45 seconds. As a team, the Flyers were third with 66 points in the meet at the University of Illinois.
Women’s Volleyball
Hyatt Palace Sunshine Classic: Jen Krumwiede totaled 30 kills as Lewis defeated Saginaw Valley State (Mich.) 25-18, 25-15, 25-13 and Palm Beach (Fla.) Atlantic 21-25, 25-23, 23-25, 25-17, 15-11. Providence graduate Colleen Mitros added 25 kills and 26 digs for the Flyers in West Palm Beach, Fla.
Women’s Cross Country
Illini Challenge: Lewis totaled 117 points in placing fourth. The Flyers were led by Kayla Patterson (15:33), who was 17th in the 4-kilometer race.
Women’s Golf
Robert Morris Invitational: St. Francis’ Meg Monson was co-medalist with a 76 at Foss Park Golf Club in North Chicago. The Saints (325) were third behind Wisconsin-Whitewater (317) and North Central College (321) in the 12-team meet.
