High School/Local College Sports Roundup for Sept. 12, 2012

Girls Volleyball

No. 2 Lockport 25-25, No. 8 Lincoln-Way West 17-17: Kayla Pfeiffer and Amanda MacNab registered nine and eight kills, respectively, for visiting Lockport (7-2) in the SouthWest Suburban crossover. Lincoln-Way West fell to 12-4.

Wheaton Warrenville South Tournament: Megan Litoborski’s 42 assists keyed No. 6 Lemont (10-3), which topped Evanston 25-22, 17-25, 25-23 and Wheaton Academy 25-22, 25-19. Haley Sullivan added 21 digs for the Indians and Ali Lund provided 14 kills.

Boys Golf

Oswego East 160, Plainfield South 165: Matt Miller paced Plainfield South with a 3-over-par 39 in the Southwest Prairie meet at Fox Bend in Oswego.

Minooka 157, Plainfield East 165: Plainfield East’s Jake Kaufman and Minooka teammates Jason Chobar and Kyle Sheppard all posted 38s in sharing medalist honors in the Southwest Prairie dual at Carillon.

Lockport triangular: Matt Stoner (40) had the best score for Lincoln-Way East (164), which topped Lockport (166) and Bolingbrook (182) in the SouthWest Suburban Blue meet at Big Run. Bolingbrook’s Adam D’Virgilio (36) was the medalist.

Girls Golf

Joliet Township co-op 191, Homewood-Flossmoor 238: Medalist Milena Singletary shot a 41 to guide Joliet Township co-op in the SouthWest Suburban Blue dual at Coyote Run in Homewood.

Lincoln-Way East 167, Lockport 211: Kelly Sterling, of Lincoln-Way East, was the medalist with a 39 in the SouthWest Suburban Blue meet at Woodbine.

Marist triangular: Medalist Claire O’Connor (40) powered Joliet Catholic (173) to a first-place finish in the East Suburban Catholic meet at The Meadows in Blue Island. Marist (181) was second and Fenwick (187) third.

Women’s Tennis

St. Francis 7, Illinois Wesleyan 2: Danielle Hoffman won in singles and doubles for host St. Francis (4-1).
