Girls Volleyball
Oak Lawn Tournament: No. 5 Providence defeated Oak Lawn 25-23, 17-25, 25-19 in the championship of the 16-team event. Tournament MVP Alyssa Maloney had 37 kills and 17 blocks for the Celtics, who went 5-0 in the two-day event. Fellow All-Tournament honoree Krista Brakauskas added 69 assists for Providence (12-2).
Wheaton-Warrenville South Tournament: Megan Litoborski had 26 assists for No. 6 Lemont (12-5), which beat Naperville North 25-19, 25-16 in the seventh-place match. Kiley Rendak added eight kills for the Indians, who were 1-2 on the day and 3-2 overall in the tournament.
Boys Soccer
Beecher 4, Reed-Custer 1: B.J. Bailey scored for host Reed-Custer (5-7-1).
Lincoln-Way Invitational
Plainfield South 2, Lincoln-Way East 2: Manny Sanchez and Christian Abarca scored for Plainfield South (8-2-1). Jim Ralph scored both goals for Lincoln-Way East (4-2-4).
Lincoln-Way West 2, Lincoln-Way Central 1: Ian McGrath scored twice to pace Lincoln-Way West (5-3-2). Nick Kowalkowski had the goal for Lincoln-Way Central.
Boys Golf
Lincoln-Way East Invitational: The meet at Wedgewood was played under modified Ryder Cup rules as the SouthWest Suburban Blue (16 points) beat the Suburban Prairie Conference (8). The top duo was Lincoln-Way East’s Matt Stoner and Tyler Kelly (66). Joliet Township co-op’s Trent Wallace and Trevor Browning (68) were second, followed by the Lockport duo of Gehrig Hollatz and Tyler Pastore (69).
Girls Tennis
Lockport Invitational: Kelsey Forkin and Kat Samardzija (No. 1 doubles) were runners-up in Flight A for Lockport (24), which finished second behind St. Ignatius (34) in the eight-team tournament.
Sandburg Invitational: Jamie Noonan and Marybeth Galick (No. 2 doubles) won their division as Providence (16 points) finished third behind Sandburg (22) and Latin (18) in the eight-team event at Moraine Valley in Palos Hills.
Boys Cross Country
Argo Invitational: Lincoln-Way Central (31 points) captured first place behind medalist Chris Kaminski, who completed the 2.9-mile course in 15 minutes, 11.9 seconds at Bull Frog Lake in Willow Springs. Dru Rozewicki (15:25.7) added a fifth-place showing for the Knights, whose closest pursuer was Glenbard East (68) in the 17-team event.
Minooka Flight Invitational: Minooka’s Joey Santillo (14:54) won the 1st Flight – the top 3-mile race in the meet – as Minooka (32) finished third in the 19-team event at Channahon Community Park. Alex Pierce (15:18) added a victory in Flight 2 for Minooka, which finished behind Yorkville (11) and Lyons (26).
Peoria Notre Dame Invitational: Plainfield South’s Dan Lathrop (14:54) was 11th in the 3-mile contest in leading Plainfield South (289) to a fifth-place finish among the 60 teams at Detweiller Park in Peoria. Plainfield East’s Joseph Suarez (14:54) was 12th as the Bengals (632) came in 24th.
Girls Cross Country
Argo Invitational: Mallory Johnson (18:45) won the 2.9-mile race in propelling Lincoln-Way Central (17) to victory over runner-up Plainfield Central (65) in the 18-team meet at Bull Frog Lake in Willow Springs. Fellow Knights Alena Pacheco (18:46) and J.J. Robinson (19:02) were second and third, respectively.
Minooka Flight Invitational: Laura Simon (19:12 over 3 miles) won Flight 7 in helping Minooka (25) finish third in the 16-team event at Channahon Community Park. Moira McAsey (18:59) took second in Flight 5 for the Indians, who were bested by Wheaton-Warrenville South (12) and Yorkville (18).
Peoria Notre Dame Invitational: Lincoln-Way East (660) was 21st out of 53 teams at Detweiller Park in Peoria. The top area individual was Lincoln-Way West’s Natalie Waters (18:10), who finished 37th in the 3-mile contest.
Women’s Soccer
St. Francis 1, St. Francis (Ind.) 0 (OT): Debbie Rios’ goal paced host St. Francis (5-0).
Women’s Volleyball
Indianapolis 25-25-25, Lewis 19-21-11: Leigh Barea distributed 23 assists and Colleen Mitros spiked 12 kills for visiting Lewis (4-6, 1-1) in the Great Lakes Valley.
