High School Sports Roundup for Sept. 26, 2012

Boys Golf

Southwest Prairie Conference Meet: Plainfield North claimed first place, finishing with 314 strokes at Wedgewood Golf Course in Plainfield. Plainfield Central (2nd, 319), Minooka (3rd, 321), Plainfield East (5th, 324), Plainfield South (7th, 335) and Romeoville (8th, 380) rounded out the team scores. Plainfield Central’s Mitch Young finished with a 71. Minooka’s Jason Chobar finished in second. David Pikul shot a 75 and Jake Kaufman finished with a 78 to lead Plainfield East. Places were not provided.

Girls Golf

East Suburban Catholic Tournament: Providence (348) was edged out by St. Viator (340) for first place at Links of Carillon in Plainfield. Maggie Corso and Alyssa Newling tied for fifth with 84 final scores. Joliet Catholic (391) finished in seventh place and was led by Claire O’Connor’s 92.

Boys Soccer

Plainfield Central 3, Minooka 1: Mohamad Rashid scored two goals on penalty kicks with Miguel Sanchez also scoring for Plainfield Central (8-7-1, 2-1) in the Southwest Prairie game.

Peotone 2, Illinois Lutheran 0: Peotone won the road nonconference game.

Girls Tennis

Mount Assisi 5, Montini 0: Katie Kokaska and Natalie Mateja won No. 2 doubles 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (2) for host Mount Assisi in the nonconference dual.
