Rogers, a senior running back, doesn’t just hang out in the backfield for the Tigers — he also plays wide receiver and returns kicks and punts. Rogers’ versatility is keeping the Tigers (3-4) in the playoff hunt with two games remaining: Homewood-Flossmoor on Saturday and Lincoln-Way East in the season finale.

What other sports do you play besides football?

I’ve done track for four years. I run the 400-, 800- and 1,600-meter relays and the 100 and 200. But I still like football better. I’ve been playing it since I was 5.

Anything new on the college front?

Indiana State wanted me to visit and attend their games. I do want to go Division I and I know I can work at it. I want to take it as far as I can.

Who is the Tigers’ biggest rival, or whom do you enjoy playing against?

Bolingbrook. I like playing them and I like what (coach John) Ivlow has done to prepare them to play.

What was the craziest thing you wanted to be when you grew up?

I wanted to be a lawyer, but I fell away from it after a while.

What reality show would you want to be on?

I’m not even sure. The only television I watch is sports.

If you had the athletic ability to excel at any sport, what would it be?

I’d pursue more in basketball and I would have worked harder. I played my sophomore year, but it wasn’t as much fun as football.

If you could take anyone to prom, who would it be?

Brianna Baker, my girlfriend.

Ten years from now, where do you hope to be?

I want to play in the NFL. But I’m going to major in business, so I’ll do something with that.

As told to Tina Akouris
