Boys Cross Country
Class 3A Normal Community Sectional: Lincoln-Way Central (81) and Minooka (104) qualified for the state finals after finishing second and fourth, respectively, at Normal’s Maxwell Park. Joey Santillo (14:54), of Minooka, was the top area runner in the 3-mile race, placing third, three spots ahead of teammate Alex Pierce (15:25). Seventh-place finisher Chris Kaminski (15:31) and No. 9 placer Dru Rozewicki (15:36) guided Lincoln-Way Central. Joliet Central’s Salvador Lazaro (15:42) and Lincoln-Way East’s Luke Johnston (15:59) earned state berths as individuals.
Class 2A Peoria Notre Dame Sectional: Lincoln-Way West’s Ryan Kennedy (15:53) advanced to the state meet after finishing 17th in the 2.95-mile race at Illinois Central College in East Peoria.
Class 2A Wheaton Academy Sectional: Aaron Oldanie (16:24), of Lemont, earned a berth on the state level after coming in 30th in the 3-mile contest at Reed-Keppler Park in West Chicago.
Class 1A Lisle Sectional: Gardner-South Wilmington’s Lane Hoffman (17:12) was a state qualifier by virtue of his eighth-place showing in the 3.1-mile race at Lisle Community Park.
Girls Cross Country
Class 3A Normal Community Sectional: Morgan Crouch (18:15) was seventh in the 3-mile race as Minooka (71) finished second behind O’Fallon (36) at Maxwell Park. Fourth-place Lincoln-Way East (123) and No. 5 finisher Lincoln-Way Central (133) also qualified for the state meet. Samantha Ostmann (18:17), who finished eighth, was the top runner for Lincoln-Way East, while Elizabeth Venezio (18th, 18:58) paced Lincoln-Way Central.
Class 2A Peoria Notre Dame Sectional: Lincoln-Way West’s Natalie Waters (17:39) was the top individual qualifier for the state meet by placing second in the 2.94-mile race at Illinois Central College.
Class 2A Wheaton Academy Sectional: Lemont produced a pair of individual state qualifiers in Victoria Salazar (19:01) and Claire Gagan (19:11), who finished 20th and 24th, respectively, in the 3-mile contest at Reed-Keppler Park.

Class 2A O’Fallon Sectional
Edwardsville 3, Romeoville 0: Romeoville lost in the championship.
Girls Swimming
SouthWest Suburban Red Meet: Emily Gallagher won the 50-yard freestyle (24.78 seconds) and 100 freestyle (54.11) as Lincoln-Way West (184) finished fourth in the five-team meet won by host Lincoln-Way North (305).
