NASCAR Racing: Nationwide returning to Chicagoland Speedway in July

There will be two race weekends at Chicagoland Speedway in 2013.

The speedway announced Tuesday that in addition to the September Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup race weekend, NASCAR’s Nationwide Series will visit July 21 with the STP 300. The ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards that same date.

As in 2012, the date coincides with an off weekend for the Sprint Cup Series.

The Geico 400, first race in the Chase for the Sprint Cup Championship, will be held Sept. 15. A trucks series race and a Nationwide race will run on the two preceding days.

“We are elated to begin our 13th season of racing by welcoming the future stars of NASCAR to Chicagoland Speedway,” speedway president Scott Paddock said in a release. “With the ARCA Racing Series and the NASCAR Nationwide Series in town, our fans are afforded the unique opportunity to watch some of the sport’s best young drivers headline Sunday’s premier motorsports events.”
