Boys Basketball

Coal City Tournament

No. 6 Morris 56, Coal City 45: Ben Ortiz chalked up 17 points and Austin Patterson added 14 to guide Morris (2-1). Coal City’s Nick Peters led all scorers with 24 points.

St. Bede 70, Gardner-So. Wilmington 32: Hunter Eutsey had seven points for Gardner-South Wilmington (0-3).

Route 17 Classic

Ridgeview 55, Wilmington 42: Dan O’Leary scored a team-high 16 points for Wilmington (3-1) in the championship at Dwight.

Paw Paw 64, Dwight 29: Triston Dircks netted six points for Dwight (2-2) in the third-place game.

St. Charles East Tournament

East Aurora 72, No. 7 Plainfield East 65: Aaron Jordan accumulated 15 points and six rebounds for Plainfield East (0-4) in the seventh-place contest. Roger Tating (12 points) and Kevin Fervil (11 points, 6 rebounds) also starred for the Bengals.

Girls Basketball

Benet/Naperville Central Tournament

Benet 58, No. 5 Providence 48: Providence (2-4) fell short in its last game of the tournament.

Waubonsie Valley/West Aurora Tournament

Naperville North 64, No. 8 Minooka 33: Minooka (1-4) closed with a loss at Waubonsie Valley.

Girls Bowling

Plainfield Central Invitational: Minooka’s six-game score of 5,434 enabled the Indians to finish second behind Oswego East (5,590) at Pioneer Lanes in Plainfield. Plainfield East (5,308) was fourth and Plainfield North (5,192) fifth in the 24-team meet. The top local bowler was Plainfield East’s Ivory Miles (1,233), who came in third. Minooka’s Emily Koulis (1,218) was fifth and Plainfield North’s Taylor Wilmoth (1,202) sixth.

Rock Island Invitational: Medalist Nicole Troha (1,295) powered Lockport (5,955) to the championship of the 17-team meet. Megan Szczepanski (1,271) added a fourth-place showing for the Porters.

Wrestling

Barrington Invitational: Nick Nasenbenny (138 pounds), Ryan Holzrichter (145) and Jordan Ellingwood (220) won their respective weight classes in leading Plainfield Central (164.50 points) to a third-place finish in the 28-team tournament. Joliet West (127.50) was sixth, the Tigers producing third-place winners in Jared Sims (113) and Jayvin Bandy (132).

Conant Invitational: Trayvon Zabala (120) won first place as Joliet Central finished ninth out of 20 teams.

Minooka quadrangular: Luis Montoya (195) had three pins as Lockport beat Belleville West 39-26, Mount Carmel 44-24 and Minooka 35-25. Shayne Oster (120) added two pins and a victory by decision for the Porters.

Reavis quadrangular: Javier Montalvo (170) won twice by pin in helping Lincoln-Way West defeat T.F. South 50-18 and Reavis 58-13. The Warriors also lost 65-0 to Sandburg, the reigning champion in Class 3A.

Men’s Basketball

St. Francis 83, Judson 62: Andrew Lerg made seven 3-pointers and finished with 23 points to lead host St. Francis (4-3, 3-2) in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Women’s Basketball

Central Missouri 84, Lewis 77: Alexus Grayer and Jess Reinhart each scored 18 points for host Lewis (3-1).
