Girls Basketball

No. 2 Romeoville 47, Oswego 40: Kiera Currie scored 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for visiting Romeoville (5-0, 1-0) in the Southwest Prairie.

No. 8 Plainfield North 61, Plainfield Central 34: Carlie Corrigan notched 18 points to lead visiting Plainfield North (4-0) in the Southwest Prairie opener for both squads.

No. 10 Lincoln-Way West 64, Oak Forest 47: Emily Ray’s 15 points sparked Lincoln-Way West (3-2) in New Lenox.

Lemont 47, Joliet West 30: Kim Jerantowski contributed 13 points to pace visiting Lemont (3-3).

Joliet Catholic 46, Rich South 29: Jasmine Lumpkin had 16 points in leading host Joliet Catholic (4-1).

Minooka 42, Oswego East 40: Erin Heide scored 15 points and Sydney Arlis added 13 for host Minooka (2-4, 1-0) in the Southwest Prairie.

Boys Basketball

No. 4 Lemont 58, Lincoln-Way North 49: Juozas Balciunas had 21 points and five steals for host Lemont in its season opener.

Plainfield North 60, Romeoville 43: Marcus Fair netted 24 points to lead host Plainfield North (3-2) in the Southwest Prairie opener for both squads.

Peotone 39, Clifton Central 33: Josh Vincent had 12 points and five rebounds for host Peotone (5-0).

Coal City 48, Somonauk 44: Nick Peters finished with 14 points to lead visiting Coal City (2-2).

Reed-Custer 81, Gardner-South Wilmington 75: Colin Anderson had 14 points to lift host Reed-Custer in the Interstate Eight. Tristan Noonan scored a game-high 23 points for Gardner-South Wilmington.

Aurora Christian Tournament

St. Edward 43, Joliet Catholic 37: Ryan Peter (14 points) and Keith Craig (10) were the leading scorers for Joliet Catholic (0-5).

Boys Bowling

Plainfield Central 3,093, Romeoville 3,023: Charlie Rife’s 300 game highlighted his 783 series over three games for Plainfield Central at Pioneer Lanes. Dakota Vostry posted a 248 game and 687 series to lead Romeoville in the Southwest Prairie.

Minooka 3,250, Oswego 3,113: Zach Segatto rolled a 268 game and 755 series to lead Minooka in the Southwest Prairie meet at Aurora’s Parkside Lanes.

Plainfield North 3,283, Oswego East 2,807: Aaron Dunn posted a 266 game and 715 series to lead Plainfield North in the Southwest Prairie dual at Parkside Lanes.

Joliet West 2,164, Stagg 1,774: Eric Wood, of Joliet West, notched the best game (289) and two-game series (547) in the SouthWest Suburban crossover at Palos Lanes.

Andrew 2,276, Joliet Central 1,780: Jason Wills had a 235 game for Joliet Central in the SouthWest Suburban crossover at Orland Bowl.

Lockport 1,995, Lincoln-Way West 1,925: Lincoln-Way West’s Josh Glover produced the best game (266) and series (479) in the SouthWest Suburban crossover at Laraway Lanes.

Bolingbrook 1,935, Lincoln-Way Central 1,705: Gio Montecinos (257 game, 476 series) keyed Bolingbrook in the SouthWest Suburban crossover at Laraway Lanes. Ryan Fregman’s 392 series was tops for Lincoln-Way Central.

Lincoln-Way East 2,074, Lincoln-Way North 1,972: Michael Lungaro’s 469 series was instrumental for Lincoln-Way East in the SouthWest Suburban crossover at Tinley Park Bowl.

Girls Bowling

Bolingbrook 1,527, Stagg 1,381: Bolingbrook’s Annmarie Schwahn led all bowlers with a 244 game and 438 series over two games in the SouthWest Suburban crossover at Palos Lanes.

Lockport 1,817, Lincoln-Way Central 1,724: Lockport’s Ashley Hostert had a 422 series in the SouthWest Suburban crossover at Laraway Lanes. Nicole Cetwinski, of Lincoln-Way Central, led all competitors with a 445 series.

Lemont 1,598, Bremen 1,458: Kyra Udziela’s 373 series drove Lemont in the South Suburban Blue dual at Strike N Spare II.

Wrestling

Coal City triangular: Cody Minnick (106 pounds) won twice by pin as Coal City defeated Mount Zion 58-15 and Pontiac 54-19.

Women’s Volleyball

NAIA National Championships

Texas-Brownsville 25-25-25, St. Francis 14-14-23: Ashley Thompson had seven kills and Dana Wettergren added 14 digs for St. Francis (37-7) in the opening round of pool play in Sioux City, Iowa.
