Lumpkin is a junior guard-forward for the Angels. She averaged 5 points and 3 rebounds last season for 3A state champion Montini before transferring to Joliet Catholic.
What appealed to you about Joliet Catholic?
It’s a lot closer to my house, and I like the academics. I really like the people around the school and the entire environment.
Excited about the team’s chances?
I’m confident about the team and that we will get better. The Bolingbrook loss was tough, but it was our first game. I feel like if we keep doing the little things right, come hard and play together every game, the winning will take care of itself.
What are your personal goals?
I’m looking to contribute everywhere I can, points, rebounds, steals, everything — an all-around game.
Does winning state last year at Montini help as a leader this year?
Winning last year, I know what it takes to win. For me being older with some experience, it definitely helps.
Snap your finger and your game improves. What do you pick?
My jump shot. It’s a lot better, but I’ve got to work with consistency on it.
Who is your celebrity prom date?
Definitely Chris Brown.
You’re on a deserted island and can never run out of one food. What do you pick?
Smoothies. I love them, and I have to have one every day. I can make them. My mom buys me the stuff for them, and I like Jamba Juice, but any strawberry banana smoothie.
Do you have a dream school, somewhere you’re dying to go?
I don’t have a dream school, but with all the opportunities in front of me, it’s a blessing.
