Wrestling
Niles West quadrangular: Trayvon Zabala (126), Sharod Wilson (195) and Johnny Moore (285) posted three victories apiece in leading Joliet Central over Niles West 34-33 and Metea Valley 37-26. The Steelmen lost to McHenry 42-21.
Lisle quadrangular: A 39-37 loss to Lisle was the only blemish for Joliet Catholic, which defeated Nazareth 48-21 and Hillcrest 45-36.
Bloomington triangular: Joe Fulco (126) won twice in helping Providence defeat Bloomington 37-31 and Morton (Ill.) 63-10.
West Aurora duals: Austin Strzelczyk (126) and Dan Radcliffe (132) prevailed three times apiece in guiding Lockport over Neuqua Valley 49-21 and West Aurora 41-15. The Porters lost to Hononegah 28-23.
Prairie Central duals: Sean Liaromatis (170, 182) and Derrick Romano (heavyweight) each contributed two pins and a victory by decision for Wilmington, which outscored Argenta-Oreana 51-21, Prairie Central 42-30, Riverton 60-12 and Monticello 50-24.
Normal West duals: Miguel Silva (106) had four pins as Plainfield South bested Normal Community 59-17, United Township 49-24 and Normal West 40-31. Liam Hannon (126) added three pins for the Cougars, whose lone defeat was a 38-29 decision to Moline.
Fenton Invitational: Lincoln-Way West (239) won the 12-team tournament thanks to championships from Kyle Rodriguez (138), LaVonte Blackful (145), Josh Ruettiger (152) and Cody Pedigo (160).
Boys Basketball
Rock Island 62, No. 7 Minooka 44: Visiting Minooka fell to 4-2.
Aurora Christian Tournament
Joliet Catholic 62, IMSA 47: Ryan Peter totaled 22 points and Keegan Tyrell added 15 for Joliet Catholic (1-7).
Girls Basketball
No. 2 Romeoville 54, Plainfield Central 29: Kiera Currie (19 points, 11 rebounds, 7 steals) surpassed the 1,000-point mark for her career in pacing Romeoville (6-0, 2-0) at the United Center. Abby Smith added 12 points and four assists for the Spartans in the Southwest Suburban game. Plainfield Central fell to 2-4, 0-2.
No. 6 Joliet Catholic 61, St. Joseph 34: Jasmine Lumpkin tossed in 23 points and hauled down 16 rebounds for visiting Joliet Catholic (5-1).
Wilmington 49, Beecher 43: Alexis Casey scored nine points to lead host Wilmington (1-4). Theresa Homerding and Tiffany Nugent added eight points apiece for the Wildcats.
Boys Bowling
Oswego East Invitational: Zach Segatto (1,458) had the top six-game series in leading Minooka (6,367) to the championship. Oswego (6,052) was second and Plainfield North (5,969) third at Parkside Lanes in Aurora.
Girls Bowling
Rich East Invitational: Lincoln-Way Central (4,682) was fourth and Lincoln-Way East (4,,676) fifth in the 15-team field at Lakewood Bowl in Richton Park. Lincoln-Way Central was led by Heather Krohn (1,120), who finished fourth, three places ahead of teammate Jamie Sexauer (1,060). Lincoln-Way East’s Rachel Tobolaski (1,026) was 10th.
Fremd Invitational: Bolingbrook (4,006) finished eighth among the 20 squads at Arlington Lanes in Arlington Heights. The top individual for the Raiders was Felicia Montecinos, who was 13th with a three-game series of 556.
Men’s Basketball
Illinois Valley 77, Joliet Junior College 70: Pierre Jolly scored 20 points and Taylen Alexander added 14 to lead host Joliet Junior College (4-4).
