Wrestling
Romeoville duals: Kyle Rodriguez (132) recorded three pins in leading Lincoln-Way West over Wilmington 51-15, Lemont 57-21 and Bishop McNamara 69-6. Lance Perly (120) and Matt Ryan (126) added victories via fall and decision for the Warriors. Andy Rodawold (138) and Nick Vancurra (195) posted three victories apiece for Wilmington, which won its remaining two duals by scores of 57-21 over Marian Catholic and 37-21 opposite Lemont.
Lockport duals: Brian Rossi (113), Dan Radcliffe (126) and Austin Strzelczyk (132) won three times apiece in helping Lockport defeat Wheaton North 40-18 and Bradley 44-18 in the eight-team meet. The Porters fell in their remaining dual, 47-18 to Marist.
Pontiac Invitational: Championships from Trayvon Zabala (120), Donovan Luckett (126), Sharod Wilson (182) and Johnny Moore (220) propelled Joliet Central (165) to a first-place finish in the 16-team field. Joliet Catholic (81) came in 10th.
Downers Grove South Invitational: Milan Patel (113), Elijah Bavaro (126) and David Opare-Addo (195) won championships for Bolingbrook (200), which finished fourth in the nine-team meet.
Plano Invitational: Miguel Silva beat Zach Krause 13-4 in the final at 106 pounds as Plainfield South (171) captured third place over Southwest Prairie rival Plainfield East (167.5) in the 17-team tournament. Dan Saracco (170) joined Silva as a titlist for the Cougars. Krause’s performance was the best for Plainfield East, which produced third-place winners in six weight classes. Coal City (118) was sixth, thanks to championships from Cody Minnick (113) and Corey Jurzak (120). Seneca’s Sage Friese won the crown at 132.
Boys Basketball
No. 7 Minooka 43, Joliet Catholic 27: Visiting Minooka improved to 6-2. Jalen Jackson had seven points for Joliet Catholic (1-9).
Morris 55, DeKalb 37: Ben Ortiz and Jake Hogan netted 12 points apiece for host Morris (3-2, 1-1) in the Northern Illinois Big 12 East. Jason Matteson added 11 points for the Redskins.
Girls Basketball
No. 6 Joliet Catholic 63, St. Viator 37: Nicole Ekhomu scored 15 points and her sister, Christina, tacked on 13 to guide host Joliet Catholic (8-1, 2-0) in the East Suburban Catholic.
Somonauk 46, Reed-Custer 40: Sisters Caitlyn (15 points, 6 rebounds) and Ashley Welch (12 points, 11 rebounds) led the way for visiting Reed-Custer (1-7).
Iroquois West Tournament
Gardner-South Wilmington 55, Clifton Central 36: Chelsea Schultz netted 23 points for Gardner-South Wilmington (5-6) in the second round.
Iroquois West 65, Gardner-South Wilmington 20: Breann Fisher scored a team-high eight points for Gardner-South Wilmington in its first game.
Oswego Tournament
Neuqua Valley 60, Minooka 34: Larissa McLemen chalked up 10 points to lead Minooka (3-7) in the opening round.
Boys Bowling
Lincoln-Way East Invitational: Minooka had a six-game pinfall total of 6,137 in finishing second behind Andrew (6,329) at Thunder Bowl. Lockport (6,124) was third, with Oak Lawn (6,017) and Bolingbrook (5,872) rounding out the top five.
Women’s Basketball
St. Francis 84, Trinity International 61: Katie Gonnering totaled 24 points in leading host St. Francis (4-6, 4-3) in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference. Marissa Draper added 18 points and four assists for the Saints.
