Shermulis is a senior guard in her third year on the varsity.

What season goals do you have?

Last season, we lost to Hillcrest for the regional championship. Our goal from the beginning this year was definitely to win a regional championship. It’s definitely at the top of our list.

As a senior point guard, do you feel pressure to step up?

Yeah, definitely. We do have younger girls on the team, a couple sophomores, but as a senior point guard, being a leader is definitely something my coach (Eileen Copenhaver) and I have talked about.

What would you like to improve about your game?

Definitely rebounding.

What’s the biggest difference between girls and boys basketball?

I think we are more fun to watch. We like to share the ball. The game isn’t selfish. I think there’s more finesse to it. I think it is more fun to play that way.

Who is your celebrity prom date?

David Beckham. I’m not a huge soccer fan, but I just like David Beckham.

What’s the best Christmas present you’ve ever gotten?

My iPod. If we are going back in the day, it was the iPod mini I first got. Those thick little things. It probably only held about 500 songs. It was cool to have.

Do you have a dream school?

I’ve signed with Ferris State University in Michigan to play basketball. When I went on my visit there, I instantly bonded with all the girls. They were so nice and I fit in with them right away. It was the same way with the coaches. I could totally see myself spending four years there. And then there was the campus, which I really loved. I loved it all so it was a really good fit.

As told to Tim O’Brien
