Boys Basketball
No. 5 Joliet Central 51, Sandburg 30: Jalen Heath netted 24 points and Jonah Coble added 13 to lift visiting Joliet Central (6-3, 3-1) in the SouthWest Suburban Blue.
No. 6 Seneca 39, Wilmington 34: Host Seneca (9-0, 4-0) prevailed in the Interstate Eight. Dan O’Leary connected for 16 points to lead Wilmington (6-2, 2-1).
Thornwood 52, Lincoln-Way West 45: Hayden Witt’s game-high 19 points led visiting Lincoln-Way West (1-8, 0-3) in the SouthWest Suburban Red.
St. Patrick 66, Joliet Catholic 37: Ryan Peter contributed nine points and nine rebounds for visiting Joliet Catholic (1-10, 0-2) in the East Suburban Catholic.
Sandwich 44, Coal City 41: Brennen Shetina’s 13 points were the most for host Coal City (3-4, 1-2) in the Interstate Eight.
Rochelle 78, Morris 72: Jake Hogan scored a team-high 21 points for visiting Morris (3-3, 1-2) in the Northern Illinois Big 12 East. The Redskins also received 15 points from Ben Ortiz and 14 from Jason Matteson.
Grant Park 43, Gardner-South Wilmington 40: Dalton Wright recorded 14 points and Tristan Noonan added 10 for visiting Gardner-South Wilmington (0-9, 0-4) in the River Valley.
Reed-Custer 83, Peotone 79: Dalton Kinzler poured in 27 points to lead visiting Reed-Custer (2-8, 1-3) in the Interstate Eight. Tyler Foote added 11 points for the Comets and Tyler Schooner scored 10. Adam Slager paced Peotone (5-4, 0-4) with 21 points. Josh Vincent and Brady White chipped in 13 points apiece for the Blue Devils.
Plainfield North Tournament
T.F. North 59, No. 9 Plainfield North 57 (OT): Mark Wood had 26 points to lead T.F. North (8-1). Plainfield North fell to 4-6.
Girls Basketball
No. 2 Romeoville 64, No. 8 Plainfield North 47: Kiera Currie poured in 19 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to spark host Romeoville (9-0, 5-0) in the Southwest Prairie. Angelica Osusky (13 points) and Brianna Harris (10) also starred for the Spartans. Plainfield North fell to 4-5, 1-4.
No. 3 Plainfield East 66, Plainfield Central 43: Nina Maggio totaled 22 points and eight steals for host Plainfield East (12-0, 5-0) in the Southwest Prairie. Nikia Edom tacked on 17 points for the Bengals.
No. 10 Lemont 41, Eisenhower 37 (OT): Nicole Krol netted nine points and Courtney Toth scored eight for visiting Lemont (7-4, 4-1) in the South Suburban crossover.
Wrestling
Lincoln-Way East 52, Andrew 16: Sean Sibley (106 pounds), Mitch Murphy (160) and Curt Olbrich (182) notched pins for visiting Lincoln-Way East in the SouthWest Suburban crossover.
Lincoln-Way West 40, Joliet West 27: LaVonte Blackful (138), Jake Bohne (170) and Javier Montalvo (182) won by fall for host Lincoln-Way West in the SouthWest Suburban crossover. Cory Winchell (120) and Matt Iwinski (220) registered pins for Joliet West.
Lockport 38, Joliet Central 21: Pins by Vince Dietz (145) and Jack Winters (182) powered visiting Lockport in the SouthWest Suburban Blue. Kevin Muldrow (220) contributed a victory by fall for Joliet Central.
Plainfield Central 42, Oswego 24: Dylan Cramer (113), Nick Nasenbenny (132) and Jordan Ellingwood (195) were among those with pins for host Plainfield Central in the Southwest Prairie.
Wilmington triangular: Andy Rodawold (138) won by pin and technical fall for Wilmington, which beat Bishop McNamara 51-22 and lost to St. Rita 53-20.
