Alex Shermulis, of Providence, is the Herald-News Girls Basketball Player of the Week.
A senior point guard, Shermulis scored a career-high 24 points, including two key three-point plays in the second half, in Providence’s 59-49 win over visiting St. Viator. She added four assists, three steals and three rebounds in the East Suburban Catholic conference victory. Shermulis averages 6 points and 4 assists per game.
