High School/Local College Sports Roundup for Jan. 17, 2013

Girls Basketball

No. 2 Bolingbrook 72, Lincoln-Way Central 28: Aysia Bugg had 20 points and five assists to lift visiting Bolingbrook (14-4, 8-0) in the SouthWest Suburban Blue. Amarah Coleman chipped in 17 points and seven steals for the Raiders.

No. 4 Lincoln-Way East 47, Joliet Central 17: Kara Krolicki scored 19 points and Claire McMahon added 10 for visiting Lincoln-Way East (15-2, 7-1) in the SouthWest Suburban Blue. Chavon Banks had four points and 12 rebounds for Joliet Central.

Homewood-Flossmoor 70, Joliet West 37: Valencia Chandler provided 10 points for host Joliet West (5-13, 2-6) in the SouthWest Suburban Blue.

Gardner-South Wilmington 77, Donovan 35: Chelsea Schultz had 19 points to boost host Gardner-South Wilmington (8-12, 4-5) in the River Valley. Paige Lardi added 15 points for the Panthers and Breann Fisher tacked on 12 points and 13 rebounds.

Boys Basketball

No. 3 Lemont 60, Oak Forest 44: Martin Einikis had 12 points, 10 rebounds and five assists for visiting Lemont (16-2, 6-1) in the South Suburban Blue. Mike Wisz led the Indians with 21 points, while Juozas Balciunas scored 11.

Girls Bowling

Rich South 1,909, Peotone 1,613: Valerie Kloohoky had a 236 game and two-game series of 387 to lead Peotone at Lakewood Bowl in Richton Park.

Argo 2,684, Lemont 2,471: Lemont’s Lizzy Melvin paced all competitors with a 232 game and 588 series over three games in the South Suburban Blue dual at AMF Forest Lanes in Lyons.

Plainfield South 2,682, Plainfield Central 2,658: Shannin Jacobazzi had a 213 game and 614 series to lead Plainfield South in the Southwest Prairie dual at Pioneer Lanes. Plainfield Central received a 215 game and 587 series from Amy Miklosh.

Plainfield North 2,532, Romeoville 2,500: Romeoville’s Nicole Jeffrey led all individuals with a 225 game and 588 series in the Southwest Prairie meet at Brunswick Zone XL in Romeoville. Emily Batara had a 527 series to lead Plainfield North.

Boys Swimming

Lincoln-Way East 120, Joliet Central co-op 50: Andy Gramont won the 100-yard freestyle (51.33 seconds) and 100 backstroke (1 minute, 2.95 seconds) to pace visiting Lincoln-Way East in the SouthWest Suburban Blue. Stephen Mahan, of Joliet Central co-op, prevailed in the 50 free (23.02).

Lemont 106, Thornton Fractional co-op 64: Wins by Justin Stanwyck (25.04) in the 50 free and 500 free (5:52.46) powered host Lemont in the South Suburban Blue.

Sandburg 112, Lincoln-Way Central 73: Cody Moris prevailed in the 100 butterfly (59.97) for host Lincoln-Way Central in the SouthWest Suburban Blue.

Men’s Basketball

Lewis 82, McKendree 61: Ryan Jackson’s 17 points sparked visiting Lewis (9-4, 3-2) in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

St. Francis 77, Trinity International 67: Chris Miller (19 points) and Mark Peters (18 points, 13 rebounds) led visiting St. Francis (13-8, 9-6) in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference.

Women’s Basketball

Lewis 69, McKendree 55: Labrenthia Murdock and Sam Rinehart poured in 19 points apiece to lead visiting Lewis (11-2, 4-1) in the GLVC.
