Sandburg scored 12 straight points to start the fourth quarter and overcame visiting Lincoln-Way Central 47-37 Friday in SouthWest Suburban Blue action.
Malek Harris (13 points) hit consecutive jumpers for the Eagles (4-14, 2-5) to make it 33-32 with 5:46 to play. Niko Cahue (11 points) then scored five straight points, and the Eagles’ Niko Kogionis (game-high 14 points) nailed a three-pointer to make it 41-32 with 2:33 to play.
Sandburg, which trailed 32-29 after three quarters, held the Knights (8-11, 0-7) to five points in the fourth quarter.
“I thought we did a nice job of closing out,” Kogionis said. “We did a nice job of boxing out and getting rebounds.”
Brad Bass led Lincoln-Way Central with nine points and 15 rebounds.
“Down the stretch, their defense got better, and we made some mistakes leaving shooters open for threes a couple of times,” Knights coach Bob Curran said. “Malek made some plays taking us down from the top and there wasn’t much we could do about that.”
