Plainfield South finished each quarter and finished off No. 6 Minooka 56-50 in a Southwest Prairie Conference game Friday in Plainfield.
The Cougars (7-15, 4-6) scored the final points in each of the first three quarters. Minooka, which has lost three of four in the league, dropped to 15-10, 6-4.
Plainfield South trailed 10-5 early in the game. It scored the next 16 points and was never headed. Included was a 12-0 run to end the first quarter. The Cougars also scored the final points of the second and third quarters.
“It’s funny how that works sometimes,” Plainfield South coach Tim Boe said. “We went with a smaller lineup at the end of the first quarter to turn it into a full-court game.”
Alonzo Garrett scored eight of his team-high 12 points during the run that ended the first quarter and started the second. Minooka got no closer than three points the rest of the way.
Plainfield South led 28-25 at the half and 39-31 after three quarters.
Miles Snowden and Daylon Edwards added 11 points each for the hosts.
Jake Hogen’s 16 points led the Indians.
