Girls Basketball
No. 4 Joliet Catholic 61, Bishop McNamara 43: Jasmine Lumpkin scored 24 points and grabbed 17 rebounds to propel visiting Joliet Catholic (22-4, 8-2) in the East Suburban Catholic. Nicole Ekhomu tacked on 23 points for the Angels.
Marist 64, Providence 47: Mary Fashingbauer had 11 points and Karly Tinervia added 10 for host Providence (11-16, 1-7) in the East Suburban Catholic.
Girls Bowling
Plainfield North Sectional: Plainfield East’s Kinswana Hubbard (1,369) finished third in capturing a spot in the state meet along with Lemont’s Kyra Udziela (1,310). Lemont (5,902) was third in the team standings behind state qualifiers Oswego East (6,582) and Waubonsie Valley (6,530) at Echo Lanes in Morris.
Wrestling
Class 3A Bolingbrook Individual Regional: Milan Patel (106), Elijah Bavarro (126) and Luis Sampedro (145) captured championships in guiding Bolingbrook (136.50) to a second-place showing behind Waubonsie Valley (163.50). Plainfield East (118) was third on the strength of titles from Cody Hughes (113) and Awais Arain (195). Romeoville’s Naquan Hardy garnered top honors at 120 pounds.
Class 2A Pontiac Regional: Kenny Baldridge, of Morris, was the winner at 120 pounds. Justin Barkley (132) and Nik Countryman (182) added second-place finishes for the Redskins (85), who were sixth in the meet won by Yorkville (172.50).
Class 2A Tinley Park Individual Regional: Lincoln-Way West (250.50) produced seven champions and 11 sectional qualifiers en route to besting runner-up Oak Forest (137.50) for the team crown. Kyle Ruettiger (113), Noah Keefe (120), Matt Ryan (126), Kyle Rodriguez (132), LaVonte Blackful (138), Josh Ruettiger (152) and Cody Pedigo (160) each finished first for the Warriors. Lemont’s Chris Giatras was tops at 182 pounds.
Class 1A Peotone Individual Regional: Peotone (193) edged Manteno by half a point to win the team title. Shadriq Jackson (120), Gabe Hartnett (138), Kody Goberville (160) and Tom Ruffino (195) all recorded pins in winning their respective weight classes for the champion Blue Devils, who advanced 10 wrestlers to the sectional round.
Class 1A Seneca Individual Regional: Andy Rodawold (132) and Sean Liaromatis (170) captured titles in leading Wilmington (174) to second place behind Plano (182.5). Fourth-place Coal City (139.5) was paced by Cody Minnick, who improved his record to 41-0 by winning the 106-pound championship. Corey Jurzak (113), Casey Brown (120) and Jake Czaja (145) were the other weight class winners for the Coalers. Seneca’s Sage Friese (126) and Dwight co-op’s Anthony Bauer (195) also placed first.
Girls Gymnastics
Oswego Regional: The top five individuals in each event qualified for the sectional round. Lincoln-Way co-op was led by Kaila Pohrte, who placed first on the vault (9.275) and second in the all-around competition (36.950). She also took second on the balance beam (8.900) and uneven parallel bars (8.650). Shelby Wiktor added a second-place effort on the floor (9.150) for Lincoln-Way co-op (139.175), which earned an at-large berth to the sectional after finishing a close second to Oswego co-op (139.925).
Women’s Basketball
Lewis 67, St. Joseph’s (Ind.) 56: Jess Reinhart posted team highs with 15 points and 11 rebounds for host Lewis (16-3, 9-2) in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Labrenthia Murdock added 12 points for the Flyers, while Nikki Nellen had nine points and nine assists.
Joliet Junior College 58, Harper 45: Alana Warren had 17 points, seven rebounds and four steals to lead visiting Joliet Junior College (9-13, 6-2) in Region IV. Falon Edwards added 13 points and six rebounds.
