Wrestling
Class 2A Rochelle Individual Sectional: Morris’ Kenny Baldridge won top honors in the 120-pound division. Nik Countryman (182) added a second-place showing for the Redskins.
Class 1A Plano Individual Sectional: Wilmington, which advanced an area-best seven wrestlers to the state tournament, produced champions in Andy Rodawold (132), Sean Liaromatis (170) and Derrick Romano (285). Coal City’s Cody Minnick improved to 44-0 by winning the 106-pound division. Corey Jurzak (113) and Casey Brown (120) also secured titles for the Coalers, who qualified five individuals to the state meet. Seneca’s Sage Friese (126) and Dwight co-op’s Anthony Bauer (195) were the other local weight class winners.
Boys Basketball
No. 5 Seneca 47, Rockford Christian 28: Jimmy David scored 12 points for host Seneca (22-4).
Boys Indoor Track & Field
Thornwood Invitational: J.T. Orban won the mile run (4 minutes, 58.75 seconds) for Lockport, which had five first-place finishes in the non-scoring meet. Other winners for the Porters included Kevin Giroux in the 2-mile run (10:19.28) and Aaron Ambrose in the pole vault (10 feet, 6 inches).
Girls Indoor Track & Field
Lockport Invitational: Wins by Kimberly Johnson in the mile run (5:50.92), Taylor Latta in the 2-mile run (13:16.55) and Lane Kadlec in the shot put (32-2) helped Lockport (164) capture first place. Mother McAuley (76) was second and Marian Catholic (68) third in the five-team meet.
Boys Diving
Homewood-Flossmoor Invitational: Lincoln-Way Central’s Ryan Kojder was fourth after accumulating 393.05 points in 11 attempts. His performance led the Knights (15 points) to a fourth-place finish behind Fenwick (28), Fremd (27) and Marian Catholic (20).
Men’s Basketball
Lewis 67, Kentucky Wesleyan 64: David Bryant scored 14 points to lead visiting Lewis (14-7, 8-5) in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Jeff Jarosz added 11 points for the Flyers and Nick Valla had 10.
Women’s Basketball
Kentucky Wesleyan 74, Lewis 61: Sam Rinehart had 17 points and six rebounds to pace visiting Lewis (16-5, 9-4) in the GLVC.
St. Francis 75, Holy Cross (Ind.) 58: Katie Gonnering netted a career-high 36 points and also grabbed 10 rebounds to power host St. Francis (13-14, 12-8) in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference.
