When it’s go time, expect Joliet West’s Morris Dunnigan and Marian Catholic’s Tyler Ulis to steal the spotlight. Dunnigan, a senior, is averaging 17.3 points per game and has the skills to put the ball in the basket a variety of ways, including jaw-dropping jams. Carl Terrell, Brandon McCullum and Ryan Modiest provide scoring options for West, which could pose some problems in the paint for Marian Catholic. Ulis, a junior point guard averaging 22 points and nearly 5 assists per game, is a dazzling ballhandler who can penetrate or step back and knock down a three-pointer. Terrone Parham and Josh Cohn are top wingmen for the Spartans.

The breakdown: Rich East not only boasts multiple scoring options in Ron Lawton (15.7 ppg, 7.2 rpg), Don Henderson (10 rpg), Russell Wright, Nick Horne and Brandon Cole, it can play up-tempo or ball-control styles. The Rockets likely will try to run Coal City out of the gym. The Coalers boast a decent 1-2 scoring punch in Nick Peters (14.1 ppg) and Brennen Shetina (10.6 ppg), but will need others, such as Jon West, to contribute.

Providence (15-13) vs. Hillcrest (22-6)

When: 7:30 p.m. Wednesday

Where: 5000 Sauk Trail, Richton Park

The breakdown: Both teams feature an outstanding senior guard. Jovan Mooring is averaging 18.4 points and led Hillcrest to its 25th consecutive conference championship, which the Hawks secured when Mooring scored 28 in a 70-60 win over South Suburban Blue rival Lemont in the regular-season finale. Kevin Kozan, who was named Lawless Award winner as MVP of the Catholic League South, has averaged more than 19 points for Providence. The supporting cast for Hillcrest includes 5-10 guard Kyle Oden, who averages nearly 5 assists, and 46 percent three-point shooter Allen Jones. For Providence, forward Miles Boykin is averaging 13 points and more than 9 rebounds.

2A JOLIET CENTRAL SUPERSECTIONAL

Seton (21-10) vs. Providence-St. Mel (25-5)

When: 7:30 p.m. Tuesday

Where: 201 E. Jefferson, Joliet

The breakdown: It’s a rematch of last season’s supersectional, which saw Seton pull out a 61-51 win. The Sting boasts a dazzling pair of guards in Mark Weems Jr. (20 ppg) and Kamal Shasi, and an inside presence in 6-8 Alex Foster. The Knights are led by guard Anthony Mosley, a big-time three-point threat. The inside tandem of Donald Morgan and Joshua McNeal will try to contain Foster, who is capable of targeting the basket from beyond the arc. Tevin King is another option for Providence-St. Mel.
