Girls Indoor Track & Field
Homewood-Flossmoor quadrangular: Joliet Central’s Brittany Zavala won the 800-meter run (2 minutes, 49.93 seconds). As a team, the Steelmen totaled 46.50 points in taking fourth behind Homewood-Flossmoor (185), Kankakee (82) and Oak Forest (55.50).
College Baseball
RussMatt Invitational
St. Francis 8, Cornerstone 1: St. Francis’ Kyle Cunningham (2-1) gave up seven hits and struck out eight in tossing his first complete game. Mike Witas and Luke Wyss contributed RBI singles for the Saints (8-7) in Auburndale, Fla.
Men’s Swimming
NCAA Championships: Lewis’ Bryan Weiner had a time of 20.69 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle during the opening day of competition in Birmingham, Ala. Teammate Brandon Drogemuller swam in the 1,000-yard freestyle, finishing in 9 minutes, 29.16 seconds. Both return to the pool Friday, with Weiner slated to race in the 100 breaststroke and Drogemuller in the 500 free.
Men’s Volleyball
Lewis 18-23-25-28-15, George Mason 25-25-21-26-10: B.J. Boldog had 57 assists and Geoff Powell contributed 21 kills and 14 digs to guide visiting Lewis (13-5).
Women’s Swimming
NCAA Championships: Lewis’ Sarah Kenis posted a time of 2:10.20 in the 200 individual medley in Birmingham, Ala. Kenis will compete Friday in the preliminaries of the 100 breaststroke.
Women’s Tennis
Armstrong Atlantic 8, Lewis 1: Zsofia Lanstiak won at No. 1 singles for Lewis (2-2) in Savannah, Ga.
