Peotone 32, Dwight co-op 7: Jake Rapson had 14 carries for 104 yards and three touchdowns to spark host Peotone.
Seneca 34, Sandwich 21: Bo Taylor (13 carries) chalked up 204 yards and four touchdowns to power visiting Seneca.
Sycamore 34, Lincoln-Way West 21: Javier Montalvo ran for touchdowns covering 17 and 12 yards to boost Lincoln-Way West in New Lenox.
Wilmington 22, Coal City 0: Nick McWilliams ran seven times for 181 yards and two scores (32, 59 yards) to pace visiting Wilmington. Mason Southall added a 1-yard touchdown run for the Wildcats.
Plainfield East 37, Metea Valley 17: Cole Kotopka (7-of-14, 193 yards) tossed scoring passes to Brandon Rivera (80 yards) and Jake Mayon (35) in lifting host Plainfield East. Mayon also contributed 107 yards rushing and a touchdown for the Bengals.
Lincoln-Way East 17, Carmel 7: Jordan Wirtz passed for a touchdown and Alex Kraft gained 152 yards on 18 attemps in propelling Lincoln-Way East in Arlington Heights.
Plano 28, Reed-Custer 7: Host Reed-Custer was beaten in the Interstate Eight crossover.
Lincoln-Way Central 26, Sandburg 21: Lincoln-Way Central overcame a 21-6 deficit to win the SouthWest Suburban crossover in New Lenox.
Plainfield North 56, Westinghouse 0: Plainfield North cruised to the homefield victory.
Plainfield North 2, Minooka 1: Goals by Logan Wright and Austin Collier propelled visiting Plainfield North (3-0) in the opening round.
Lockport 2, Lemont 1: Ray Navarro and Sean McCaffrey netted goals for visiting Lockport (2-0).
Windy City Ram Classic
Joliet Central 1, Lincoln-Way North 0: Andres Miranda’s goal lifted Joliet Central (2-1) in the consolation bracket at Reavis.
Streator Tournament: Clay Kauzlaric scored both goals for Coal City, which lost to Streator 5-1 and Bishop McNamara 6-1.
Lincoln-Way Central 25-21-25, Normal Community 19-25-21: Jacqueline Langer chalked up 16 kills, 15 digs and five blocks to pace visiting Lincoln-Way Central (2-0). Maria Brown (10 kills, 16 digs) and Mariel Leibovitz (18 assists) also starred for the Knights.
Benet Invitational: Shay Millinowisch dished out 49 assists on the day as Lemont (5-2) defeated Hinsdale Central 25-18, 23-25, 25-23 in the fifth-place match. Kelly Ferguson (29 kills, 20 blocks) and Haley Sullivan (48 digs) were among the other contributors for the Indians, who also beat West Aurora 25-16, 25-18.
Plainfield North Invitational: Plainfield North beat Sandburg 25-21, 25-17 to finish third in the 24-team tournament. Providence (3-2) took seventh after besting Marian Catholic 22-25, 25-11, 25-21. Rachel Alles provided 38 assists and 14 aces over five matches for the Celtics, whose other standouts included Maggie Turk (37 assists) and Annie Cummings (26 kills). Lockport (3-3) finished 19th after besting Bolingbrook 25-21, 25-17. Kayla Pfeiffer led the Porters with 34 kills over the weekend, while Rachel Weis had 45 assists.
Southwest Classic Invitational: Medalist Luke Trent shot a 68 at Broken Arrow in leading Lockport (296) to a first-place finish. In addition, he and teammate Ben McAdams were the top duo in best ball play with a 68, one stroke better than Lincoln-Way East’s Tyler Kelly and Riley Cleeland. Kelly also finished second overall with a 71, besting Trent Wallace of Joliet Township co-op in a scorecard playoff. Lincoln-Way Central (299) was second in the team standings, with Lincoln-Way East (301), Sandburg (303) and Joliet Township co-op (312) rounding out the top five in the 12-team event.
Boys Cross Country
Hokum Karem Relays: Lincoln-Way Central teammates Chris Kaminski and Ben Zibricky won the 6-mile race in a course-record time of 29 minutes, 27 seconds at LaBaugh Woods. Their performance helped the Knights total seven points in winning first place in the 21-team meet hosted by Young.
Normal West Invitational: Dan Lathrop (15:14) was the top finisher in the 3-mile race as Plainfield South (50) garnered first place in the eight-team meet. Minooka (65) was second and Joliet West (92) third.
Girls Cross Country
Hokum Karem Relays: J.J. Robinson and Mallory Johnson (35:38) finished second as Lincoln-Way Central (9) captured top honors in the 27-team meet.
Normal West Invitational: Caleigh Beverly (19:05) and Kaitlyn Chetney (19:15) were the top two finishers in the 3-mile race as Minooka (28) won the team crown. Plainfield South (71) was second, followed by Dunlap (72), Normal West (102), Joliet West (112) and Marian Catholic (307). Joliet West’s Charlotte Youell (19:25) came in third, with the next two spots occupied by Plainfield South’s Kayla Rice (19:32) and Minooka’s Moira McAsey (19:34).
Joliet West co-op quadrangular: Sisters Maggie and Kelly Ruane (No. 1 doubles) won three times in leading Providence past T.F. North 5-0, Romeoville 4-1 and Joliet West 3-0 in a rain-shortened dual.
Champaign Centennial Invitational: Andie Doyle was fifth at No. 2 singles as Lincoln-Way East (11 points) finished seventh in the 16-team field. Nina Heidkamp and Jackie Kraut (No. 2 doubles) also came in fifth for the Griffins.
St. Francis 1, St. Francis (Ind.) 0: Brianna Ferrias scored in the 42nd minute and Amanda Coleman stopped 10 shots for St. Francis (2-0).
