College Football: St. Francis to visit Trinity International

Saints preview: A 2-0 start has helped the Saints earn a spot in the NAIA national rankings at No. 17. ... St. Francis has won 19 of its last 20 games against unranked opponents and is after a 3-0 start for just the second time in program history. St. Francis started 3-0 in 2008 on the way to a 7-4 season. ... The Saints defense stepped to the front in a 41-28 road win Saturday over Lindenwood-Belleville, forcing five turnovers that led to 21 points. ... “Winning on the road in college football is tough,” Saints coach Joe Curry said. “They are getting thrown into the fire these first three games. We’ve won two road games and that’s only going to benefit us later in the season.” ... Fifth-year senior quarterback E.J. White has thrown for 726 yards and eight touchdowns through two games. He is also the team’s leading rusher this season (31 carries, 167 yards). He has thrown touchdown passes to five different receivers. ... LB Josh Mander leads the defense with 15 tackles.
Trinity preview: Like St. Francis, Trinity is 2-0 behind a potent offense. The Trojans beat Trinity Bible 48-0 and Concordia 57-6 to open the season a year after posting a 4-7 mark, its highest win total in six seasons. ... The running of Chris Elliott (39 carries, 216 yards, 4 TDs) and the passing of Stephen Anderson (32-of-47, 446 yards, 5 TDs) have been the catalysts. ... WR Christian Robinson has been the top pass catcher with 14 receptions for 214 yards and three scores during the first two games. ... Trinity’s run defense has been impenetrable: Opponents have been thrown for minus-45 yards on the ground this season. ... Trinity’s first coach was current Minnesota Vikings coach Leslie Frazier. The football field was named after the former Bear in 1997.
