Football: Joliet West falls to Sandburg 36-28

Sandburg (3-1, 2-0) survived the SouthWest Blue shootout with Joliet West (2-2, 0-2), spoiling the Tigers’ Homecoming. The teams combined for 975 total yards.
West had first-and-goal on the 8, attempting to get to within a two-point conversion of tying in the final minute. But Sandburg DE Matt Taylor caused a rolling fumble on a sack of Tigers QB Anthony DiNardo. West recovered but lost 29 yards. DB Adam Nash’s interception on the next play ended it.
Take your pick. In a losing cause, DiNardo completed 33-of-56 passes for 461 yards and four touchdowns. WR Niko Messino caught 12 for 263 yards and two touchdowns.
BY THE NUMBERS
In addition to DiNardo’s 461 passing yards and Messino’s 263, Ronald Banner caught 10 passes for 57 yards and Dyllon Goyette grabbed five for 79 yards and two touchdowns for West, which had 516 total yards. For Sandburg, QB Sean Leland was 7-of-14 for 183 yards and three touchdowns and RB Brian Langowski rushed 27 times for 192 yards.
