Football: Plainfield North overruns Romeoville 31-19

In a crucial game for its postseason aspirations, Plainfield North went to Romeoville in Southwest Prairie Conference play and pulled out the win to improve to 3-3 overall, 2-2 in conference. The Tigers’ three losses came by a combined 14 points.
Plainfield North running back Marcus Edwards broke off an 85-yard touchdown run to give the Tigers a 21-7 lead with 7:25 left in the second quarter. Two plays later, Jack O’Connor had an interception to prevent Romeoville (3-3, 2-2) from climbing back into the game.
Edwards had a massive game for Plainfield North. He ran the ball a whopping 50 times for 406 yards and three touchdowns. He also fumbled while going into the end zone another time, with teammate Christopher Bruns pouncing on it for the score.
BY THE NUMBERS
Romeoville quarterback Kelvin Jones completed 12 passes for 251 yards and three touchdowns, all going to receiver Chuck Hunter.
