Last Meeting: Marian defeated St. Francis 49-7 in the 2011 NAIA playoffs. Marian leads the all-time series 3-0.
Saints preview: St. Francis hits the road — where it’s won three of four — for the first time in three weeks. It hasn’t faced Marian since dropping a 49-7 decision in the 2011 NAIA quarterfinals. “They are still the defending champs and they sit at the top of the league until somebody dethrones them,” coach Joe Curry said. ... QB E.J. White ranks second in the nation in total offense (393.4) and third in yards passing per game (339.4). His 11,739 yards of offense ranks seventh on the NAIA career list. ... DE Jeff Cascella ranks 10th in the nation in sacks (6.0) and sixth in tackles-for-loss (14.5). The Saints are 0-5 against the defending NAIA national champion and have allowed the fewest sacks (6) of any team in the nation this season.
Knights preview: The defending NAIA champions stumbled to 1-3 under first-year coach Mark Henninger. Since then, they have won three in a row to right the ship. ... Since Marian’s program was established, it has three NAIA Football Championship Series appearances and captured two Mid-States Football Association Mideast League titles. ... This season, the Knights are averaging 20.6 points per game. ... QB Joey Hecklinski has completed 99-of-173 passes for 1,233 yards, six touchdowns and three interceptions. ... RB Tevin Lake leads the team in rushing attempts (169), yards (830) and touchdowns (6). ... Marian has turned the ball over just eight times in seven games.
