Oswego East (6-3, 4-3) built a 20-point lead and never looked back in a Southwest Prairie Conference win at Plainfield North (3-6, 2-5). It clinched the first playoff berth in the nine-year history of Oswego East’s varsity, set a new program record for wins and marked the first time the Wolves had beaten the Tigers.
After falling behind 7-6 late in the first quarter, Oswego East embarked on an eight-play, 69-yard scoring drive capped by a 30-yard touchdown on a swing pass from Tyler Kennedy to Khalil Driver. The Wolves never trailed again.
Kennedy completed 13-of-17 passes for 166 yards and tossed four TDs in the win for Oswego East. He threw scoring passes of 30 and 25 yards to Davis, found Connor Nally for a 12-yard TD and hit Ryan Garrigus for a 10-yard TD.
BY THE NUMBERS
Plainfield North’s Quintin Hoosman was a busy man, rushing for 164 yards and a TD on 32 carries.
“Now, it’s not getting to the playoffs. We got that far. Our goal has to be getting to Northern Illinois University (for the Class 7A championship game).” — Oswego East coach Tyson LeBlanc
