1. In seeking its first regional title since 2008, Mount Assisi (17-18) will do so as the No. 1 seed at the Class 2A Wilmington Regional. Tuesday, the Eagles will play Momence, a 25-5, 25-16 quarterfinal winner over Southland Prep. Mount Assisi will rely on Kelly Magliano (283 kills), Anna Broadhurst (158 kills), MaryKate Wetzel (556 assists) and Jessica Jakubowski (243 digs).
2. Morris is Streator-bound. Playing as the No. 3 seed in the Class 3A Streator Regional, the Redskins will tangle with No. 2 seed Princeton at 7 p.m. Tuesday. If Morris reaches the regional final, it would be looking for revenge likely against LaSalle-Peru, a team the Redskins twice lost to this season. Kaylin Korte (227 kills) continues to be an offensive force for Morris, with Morgan Hussey (322 digs), JoAnna Nowicki (147 kills) and Taya Torkelson (400 assists) key contributors.
3. Plainfield North got a wake-up call. The Tigers won the Southwest Prairie for a second straight year, but in their final conference match North fell to host Oswego East in three sets. More interesting? North will not have to wait long to exact some revenge. Oswego East (seeded 16th) defeated Plainfield South 26-24, 25-11 on Monday night in a Class 4A Metea Valley Regional quarterfinal. North will play East on Tuesday in a regional semifinal.
